Druskininkai has been famous for feasts of blacksmithing as one of the oldest crafts in the last century. After a long break this festive tradition was revived by a certified artisan who creates and lives in Druskininkai. He has been engaged in blacksmithing since 2011 and in 2012, he organized the first workshop, which has become a tradition in the city. Residents of Druskininkai and resort guests can watch the blacksmiths’ work during this event and also participate in educational activities, experience the magic of the forge themselves, and the charm of the blacksmithing craft.

The purpose of the educational program

To introduce people to the blacksmith’s craft both theoretically and practically.

Activities: During the education you will learn about the traditional blacksmithing craft and have the opportunity to try process of this work. The charismatic artisan will witty introduce the craft of blacksmithing, tell various stories, sayings, lessons related to blacksmithing in Lithuanian folklore. You will also see a practical demonstration of the blacksmith’s work process, you will see the tools used: antique blacksmith’s leather bellows, forge and other blacksmith’s equipment. You will also be able to practice working with a hammer and helping a blacksmith to forge a simple souvenir, such as a nail or a horseshoe of happiness. Warmth and good emotions will be enough here!

Duration of education: 1 hour.

Number of participants: up to 12 persons.

Place: Within 25 km from Druskininkai we can arrive at your destination with mobile blacksmithing equipment.

Seasonality: All year round.

Languages: Lithuanian, Russian.
