About project

Countryside Tourism Association of Lithuania (hereafter CTAL) portal has been created by JSC „Rodiklis“ ESC (now it is JSC „WEB GROUP“) 5 years ago. From 2003 we have accumulated the biggest CTAL data base in Lithuania. Since the April 11, 2008, this project has been realized and developed by JSC „WEB GROUP“.

Even in an old version in 2006 this portal was certified as one of the most innovative system which represents countryside tourism business. Long running idea – availability calendar in homestead‘s website - inspires a „vital spirit“to portal. Availability calendar releases homesteads‘ hosts work – especially now, during the season. They do not need to answer plenty of calls only for telling that there is no free place. During the season countryside tourism homesteads‘ demand mostly exceed supply.

Previously it was complicated to embody this project because of a low computerization level among homesteads‘ hosts. Nowadays many hosts use Internet service, 25 % of them fills in availability calendar. In fact, the biggest majority does not fill in these calendars yet, but we believe that next season frequent homestead will have it.

CTAL states that the need to take a rest in a village increases every year. After joining European Union the flow of foreign holidaymakers to Lithuanian village notably increased. Portal information about homesteads is presented in three different languages and it is a big help for foreign guests. Mostly we have visitors from Germany, Holland, Denmark, Scandinavia or United Kingdom. The growth of homesteads is bigger in these regions where you can easily develop countryside tourism, near waters. EU encourages the development of countryside homesteads and service quality by giving financial support from their structural funds.
